Our Work — WHEN Women's Healthy Environments Network

When it comes to our daily health, we've always been told to incorporate plants into our diet. Plus, these products are meant to work in tandem synergistically, so you'll have the best skincare results when you use the entire regimen or collection together, vs. a one-off product that you randomly throw in to your routine. I always use beauty products but I always make sure that they contain natural ingredient so that it won't be harsh to the skin.

The cosmetic industry is corrupt and putting us all in danger As I've discussed in Green Enough: Eat Better, Live Cleaner, Be Happier (All Without Driving Your Family Crazy!) , there is no government agency standing between your family and the dangerous cosmetic ingredients that can find their way into that bottle of shampoo with a picture of your child's favorite character.

I like to use the EWG's Skin Deep Database , as they rate products on a hazard scale” of 1 to 10, with 1 being the lowest-hazard option and 10 being the highest hazard option, using as much safety data that is currently available. Brilliant idea: 'Think Dirty' app tells you the ingredients in your cosmetics.

It's still a fantastic platform to teach you how to choose safe non-toxic makeup. Products are made in a USDA organic-certified facility, using passive solar daylighting and renewable energy in their lab, offices, and warehouse. But because the terminology isn't regulated by an agency or governing body like the Federal Trade Commission or the FDA, they're all essentially meaningless words when they appear on cosmetics vegan makeup and personal care products.

I look for products to be rated between 0 to 2 (considered safe). And let us be honest, who actually lets bleach or bleach containing cleaning products sit on a surface for more than a few seconds while cleaning. Acidic or alkaline products can burn if accidentally spilled on your skin.
